Generally, when it comes to the Dental Health issues, parents think teenage is the age for kids to take to Orthodontists for their first consultation. This is a wrong conception many parents have, that if their child is not having any trouble, then the Orthodontic consultation/visit is not required. As per the WHO and American Association of Orthodontists, a child should have its first orthodontist visit at the age of 7.

Here is a list of reasons why your child must visit an orthodontist on a priority basis if he is 7 or above and hasn’t had his first visit yet.

      • Jaw growth & emerging permanent teeth.
      • Complete evaluation of teeth before the Jaw & Face stop growing.
      • Regular check-up of the teeth position, straight bites at age 7 can be decisive later.
      • Children’s teeth may look straight at age 7, but only an Orthodontist can spot an upcoming issue.
      • Timely checkups can prevent serious issues to develop later.

Other things which should be monitored in your child and an appointment to be made with Orthodontist to have a complete evaluation are:

      • Protruding Teeth
      • Unevenly spaced teeth
      • Crowded teeth
      • Speech impediment
      • Mouth Breathing
      • Thumb sucking past age 3
